ABOUT

Where it Began

Superior Welding & Contracting was founded in 2016 by Dan McKinnon—a hardworking father driven by a desire to provide for his family and build something of his own. What began as an opportunity to take on a small contract in the mining industry quickly became the foundation for a company built on determination, grit, and long hours of honest work.
In the early days, Dan wore every hat. While working full-time in the mines, he managed the business after hours—handling paperwork, office duties, and operations—while employing a small crew to get the job done. As demand grew, so did the company. Within a few short years, Superior Welding & Contracting began to take off, and Dan’s family stepped in to help manage the growing workload and keep the business running smoothly.

Through continued dedication, strong values, and a commitment to quality work, the company expanded steadily. More skilled tradespeople and office staff were brought on, transforming a small operation into a thriving organization. Today, Superior Welding & Contracting employs over 50 people and continues to grow.
Built from the ground up, the company stands as a testament to hard work, perseverance, and family values. Dan takes great pride in providing stable careers and opportunities—not only for his own family, but for every employee who is part of the Superior Welding & Contracting team.

In the Community

Superior Welding & Contracting is not only a trusted and growing name in welding and contracting, but a company deeply committed to our community. We proudly sponsor local youth athletes, including Riley Foster, a U12B Ringette player for the Sault Ice Hawks, Lincoln Rennison of the U12 AAA Greyhounds, and in previous years, other local Junior Greyhound players.

We actively participate in community events, such as providing a work truck to pull a community member’s float in the Echo Bay Santa Parade. Beyond community involvement, we foster a family-oriented culture by hosting special events and treating our employees as part of our extended family. Our commitment to giving back and supporting local initiatives reflects who we are and the values we stand for.
